Had to go back and re-watch is as I was back in Michigan for a wedding. Few thoughts on a HUGE win. And that is not sarcasm. That was a game CMU absolutely had to win.

Miami (OH) is god awful on offense. They had a QB who could run and he presented a few problems, but they could get nothing going. Probably one of the weaker offensive lines in the MAC in my opinion. That said, great game by Leterrius Walton. If CMU can get that type of effort and fire from him every game, it will help the interior of their defense. He has the ability to dominate games. Cooper Rush really struggled again. This may have been his worst performance of the season. He got caught again with the linebacker underneath on an inside route that was intercepted. At some point that has to be corrected, as he has done it just about every game. Rush looked very tentative and it appears he is trying to not make mistakes instead of making plays. I think CMU has to stick with him right now, but Niznak and Kater (if he comes back) both deserve a look if he continues to struggle. Take away the New Hampshire game and he has the following stats:
754 yards, 3 TD's, 8 INT's and he has thrown for less yards in every game he has played this year.
That will be a tough call for the coaches. Do you ride him out and give him the confidence he is the guy? Or do you give someone another shot? Both teams finished with 294 yards of offense...weird.Miami killed themselves with penalties. For all the complaints Dan Enos gets from fans, his teams are always disciplined and have routinely sit at the top of the MAC in least amount of penalties. Saylor Lavallii. Game ball. Tough yardage. Took a beating and just kept churning. Been watching him since HS and he is just a good football player. Not flashy by any means, but nobody plays harder and he is tough as hell. CMU defense...want a challenge? How about 3 of the top 4 scoring offenses in the MAC in the next three games! Making this week and even bigger challenge? Ohio has the top rush defense in the MAC. Ohio game is going to come down to QB play and turnovers. If I'm any opposing defense going against CMU, I'm sensing blood in the water. Load up the box, drop your linebackers on obvious passing downs, and force a freshman QB to beat you with his arm. Right now Cooper Rush's head is spinning, and teams have film on his weaknesses. He is still young and developing, but he will need to play well for CMU to have any chance. On paper, Ohio is a terrible matchup. They stop the run, don't turn the ball over and have senior leadership at key positions.
