Great opening weekend of College Football.
Great weather most of the weekend, and some great games to watch.
With the long weekend, we're only just a few short days from week #2, (and week #1 for NFL).
Which leads us to our next opponent, Kansas.
After last Thursday's near disaster against Rhode Island, I really have no idea what to expect moving forward. If they ranked all 128 teams after week one, we'd probably be about 125, but they don't, and we have 11 more games to play here.
If anything, last Thursday was a reality check that converting to a new offense is going to take time. How much time is uncertain, but I think we can all agree it needs to happen pretty fast.
I know many of us (fans) looked at the Kansas game as very winnable when the schedule came out last Spring. They won 2 games last year and have been one of the worst programs in all of college football the past 5-6 years. With that being said, Kansas looked pretty good last week beating SEMO and are being lead by a QB who transferred in from Washington St.
This week should be telling. Teams usually improve immensely from week one to week two.
We need to see a better performance this week, need more consistency from the QB, OL, taking care of the ball, etc. The fan-base is a bit restless after last week, and to be honest, after 7 years of watching football that's been somewhere between mediocre and bad, it's to be expected.
This is a big game for us and this program.
