Oswego East DL Eli James committed to CMU this evening. Huge grab from the Chicago area for the Chippewas. This class is very big.

James visited CMU last weekend for the game against UNLV, and informed coaches this evening he was going to commit to Central Michigan University.

Here are some comments from James prior to his visit to CMU last weekend:

Eli James is one of CMU's top remaining targets, and for good reason. The defensive star from Oswego East (Illinois) has helped his high school team get out to a 3-0 start this season, including a 71-0 win last Friday night.
He is 6-feet, 4-inches and 270 pounds and plays right in the middle of his defensive line. James said he had initially planned to commit to CMU over the summer when he attended camp, but he was given some advice to wait things out. He also holds football offers from Purdue and Wyoming.
"I am most excited about getting back up to the campus and seeing the coaches," said James. "What really stands out to me is the family-like atmosphere, and the reactions of the kids to the coaches."
James was joined at the CMU game last Saturday along with 3 other recruits already committed for the class of 2017. Belleville defensive studs George Douglas and Devonni Reed, along with Forest Hills Northern offensive lineman Erik Ditzhazy.
James said he did see the CMU game against Ok. State and simply said that it was a pretty interesting game while noting how exciting it is to see them get a win like that.

Here are his junior season highlights:
