With the bad taste of the NIU loss gone, the Chippewas face their biggest rival Western Michigan on Wednesday night. The game can be seen on ESPNU at 7 PM in what is a must win game for both teams.
CMU currently sits in a big tie for second in the division with a 2-2 MAC record while Northern Illinois remains at the top with 4 wins in the conference.
The Chippewas have no suffered any further injuries in the past two weeks, and will come into Wednesday's contest at near full strength. Since the Battle for the Cannon Trophy debuted in 2008, Western has won it 8 times while CMU has captured it 5 times. Head coach Jim McElwain has not beaten the Broncos in his CMU coaching career, and will be looking for his first win in the rivalry Wednesday night.
