It's been mentioned on this board a few times, and something coach Bono has openly talked about since he was hired.
I think it's safe to say we have a problem with attendance. The problem became increased during the Enos era and has continued into this year.
It's not a simple problem though. Programs all over the county have been battling this, even SEC schools, so it's just not us.
This bottom line is winning. If we win and return to the days of "Championship Culture", the crowds will improve. At a school like CMU, you also have to pay attention to a few things as well.
The weather plays a huge role, and we've had crap weather for games for a few years now. It's frustrating, we've had 5 home games this year, and the weather has been total crap for all of them. Bad weather will kill attendance for most schools, and even more so for us.
Weekday night games also do not work. You can't play a 8:00 game on a Tuesaday night in November and expect a good crowd. Especially for a program that alinated it's fan base for 5 years (looking at you again, Mr. Enos). Bono needs to just win, but Heeke needs to know Saturday is his best shot at getting people to come...assuming we have decent weather.
Alumni need to get their hind ends to the games. If you live within driving distance, get your butt in the car and come. You can't make comments about empty stands if your part of the problem. The students have done a good job, but the rest is up to us to fill the stadium.
