just a quick couple of updates for you...
CMU defender Mitch Stanitzek has issued a public apology to Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey. He said the head-to-head contact was non-intentional and he was unable to react fast enough.
Dungey suffered a concussion as a result of the play. In football, we are often blinded by the use of instant replay. Things happen extremely fast on the field, and while Stanitzek's hit looked very dirty and dangerous, I think it's fair to say nobody is out there intentionally trying to injure someone.
In recent recruiting news, St. Louis (MI.) high school kicker Kaden Keon has committed to CMU as a preferred walk-on.
I personally have covered Keon multiple times and have seen him play multiple times. He isn't just a kicker, but a very good athlete as well. He's the kind of kid that goes to the field in the winter, shovels off a path and practices. But yes, he is still just a kicker. He is nationally ranked as a punter and partook in multiple high-profile camps this past offseason.
For Saturday's game against MSU it will be running back Devon Spalding who will wear the #21 jersey to honor the late Derrick Nash. Spalding showed great flash last week and really looked like the guy most expected him to be. It looks as though he is completely healed from a knee injury that kept him limited the first two weeks.
