The Morning Sun in MP did a game by game prediction for the 2015 football season over the weekend, and they settled on the Chips going 5-7 after a 2-6 start.
I try not to get into preseason predictions simply because we have no real idea how things will play out on a week-week basis. Some teams will be better then predicted, others, for one reason or another, will not meet expectations. You just never know.
With that being said, the Chips will have some things stacked against them heading into the 1st two months.
They'll most likely be substantial underdogs for the first 4/5 games, so I can see why some are predicting a 2-6 start.
I'm hoping the new flavor of the coaching staff can infuse some energy into the program and we can be better than what's being predicted. If not, then the fanbase will need to be patient and not give up on Bono & company too quick. I remember how quickly things turned ugly for Enos after coming in and going 3-9 his first season (1st 2 seasons actually). This is a different circumstance though, Bono didn't inherit a team who just finished in the top 20 the year before. He's inheriting a team that underachieved in 2014, a team that lost their best players to the NFL, not just graduation.
If we can find some play makers on the outside, and win a swing game or two (I'm looking at the Ball St/Akron/ Toledo@home/NIU@home/Western, then 5-7 could turn into 7-5 or even 8-4. On the flip side, if you lose those "swing" games your looking at 3-9.
I suppose the point to this yammer is that over a span of 12 games, there will be key moments that will determine the success or failures of your season. We're on the cusp of finding out the mental makeup of this team. Will they be able to come through during those key points??
To me, that's the funnest part of this time of year, and we'll soon find out starting in 3 days.
